Faaite is an atoll situated in the Tuamotu Archipelago, covering a total area of 227 km2 (88 sq mi), with a land area of just 9 km2 (3.5 sq mi). The atoll's lagoon can be accessed through a single navigable pass, the Teauonae Pass, which plays a crucial role in the local pearl farming industry.

The population of approximately 250 inhabitants primarily engages in pearl farming and copra production. The atoll features several ancient marae sites, indicating long-term Polynesian settlement. Despite its relatively small size, Faaite maintains a primary school and basic infrastructure to support its community.
