About Tubuai

Tubuai is the main island of the Austral Islands, covering 45 km2 (17.4 sq mi). The island is surrounded by a lagoon and barrier reef extending up to 5 km from shore. Historical significance includes being the site where the HMS Bounty mutineers first attempted to settle.

The island's fertile soil supports significant agricultural production, earning it the nickname "the garden of the Australs." The population of approximately 2,250 people maintains strong cultural traditions and agricultural practices.
