About Les Deux Alpes
Les Deux Alpes is a ski resort located in the Isère department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of southeastern France. The resort sits at an elevation of 1,650 meters (5,413 feet) and extends up to 3,600 meters (11,811 feet) on the Glacier de Mont-de-Lans, making it one of Europe's highest ski areas. The town developed from two separate Alpine villages, Vénosc and Mont-de-Lans, which explains its name meaning "The Two Alps."
The resort features approximately 200 kilometers (124 miles) of marked ski runs across 425 hectares of skiable terrain. Year-round skiing is available on the glacier, which is accessible via cable car and offers snow activities even during summer months.
Les Deux Alpes hosts various winter sports facilities including terrain parks, a half-pipe, and designated areas for freestyle skiing and snowboarding. The main village stretches along a single road approximately 2 kilometers long, containing hotels, restaurants, shops, and ski rental facilities. The resort has been operational since the 1940s and has gradually expanded its infrastructure to accommodate both recreational and competitive skiing activities.
