About Les Arcs
Les Arcs is a ski resort located in the Tarentaise Valley in the Savoie department of the French Alps. The resort was developed in the 1960s and consists of four main villages situated at different altitudes: Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950, and Arc 2000. The base village, Bourg-Saint-Maurice, sits at 840 meters and is connected to the resort via the funicular railway.
Les Arcs forms part of the Paradiski ski area, which is linked to the neighboring La Plagne resort by the Vanoise Express cable car, one of the largest cable cars in the world. The combined area offers over 425 kilometers of marked ski runs.
The resort's skiing terrain ranges from 1200 to 3226 meters in elevation, with access to the Aiguille Rouge, the highest point in the area. Les Arcs hosted several events during the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, including speed skiing demonstrations. The resort is known for its varied terrain suitable for all skill levels and its modern purpose-built architecture, particularly the distinctive designs in Arc 1600 by architect Charlotte Perriand.
