About La Clusaz
La Clusaz is a ski resort and commune located in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of southeastern France. Situated at an elevation of approximately 3,445 feet (1,050 meters), the village lies in the Aravis mountain range, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) east of Annecy.
The resort features five distinct skiing areas: Beauregard, Manigod, Balme, Aiguille, and Etale, offering a total of 84 miles (135 kilometers) of ski runs. The terrain ranges from beginner slopes to challenging black runs, with the highest lift reaching 8,202 feet (2,500 meters). La Clusaz has hosted various international skiing competitions, including stages of the Alpine Skiing World Cup.
The village center maintains traditional Savoyard architecture with wooden chalets and the historic Church of Saint John the Baptist, dating back to the 18th century. During summer months, La Clusaz transforms into a destination for mountain biking, hiking, and paragliding. The local economy depends primarily on tourism, with the commune having a permanent population of approximately 1,800 residents.
