About Paris Orly Airport

Paris Orly Airport (French: Aéroport de Paris-Orly) is an international airport located 13 kilometers (8.1 miles) south of Paris, France. Serving as the second-busiest airport in France after Charles de Gaulle Airport, Orly handles approximately 33 million passengers annually. The airport operates under the IATA code ORY and ICAO code LFPO, functioning as a major hub for domestic and European flights.

Orly Airport consists of four terminals: Orly 1, 2, 3, and 4, with terminals 1, 2, and 3 collectively known as Orly South, while terminal 4 operates as Orly West. The facility spans 1,534 hectares and features two parallel runways measuring 3,320 meters and 2,400 meters in length respectively.

The airport's history dates back to 1909 when it began as a small airfield. Commercial operations commenced in 1932, and Orly served as Paris's primary international airport until Charles de Gaulle Airport opened in 1974. During the 1950s and 1960s, it was considered one of the world's most modern airports.

Transportation connections include the Orlyval automated metro line, RER B train service via Antony station, and multiple bus routes. The airport primarily serves European destinations, with Air France, Transavia France, and easyJet among its major operators.

Orly Airport employs approximately 26,000 people and contributes significantly to the Île-de-France region's economy, generating billions of euros in annual revenue through passenger services, cargo operations, and related commercial activities.
