About Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport

Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) is the largest international airport in France and the primary aviation hub serving Paris. Located approximately 25 kilometers northeast of central Paris in the communes of Roissy-en-France, Le Mesnil-Amelot, and Mitry-Mory, the airport opened on March 8, 1974. Named after French President and General Charles de Gaulle, it serves as the main hub for Air France and a focus city for several other airlines.

The airport operates three terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2 (subdivided into seven sub-terminals: 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, 2F, and 2G), and Terminal 3. Terminal 2 is the largest and handles the majority of international flights, while Terminal 1 primarily serves international carriers. Terminal 3 accommodates charter flights and low-cost airlines. The airport features four parallel runways designated 08L/26R, 08R/26L, 09L/27R, and 09R/27L.

CDG consistently ranks among the world's busiest airports by passenger traffic, handling over 76 million passengers annually before the COVID-19 pandemic. It serves as a major connecting point between Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas, with direct flights to more than 300 destinations worldwide.

Transportation connections include the RER B train line, which provides direct service to central Paris in approximately 35 minutes. The airport is also accessible via several bus routes, taxis, and the CDGVAL automated shuttle system that connects the terminals and parking areas. Major highways A1 and A104 provide road access to the facility.

The airport employs approximately 75,000 people across various aviation and service industries, making it one of France's largest employment centers.
