Canada spans six time zones across its vast territory, making it one of the most geographically diverse countries in terms of time. The Canada time zone map displays these zones from west to east: Pacific Time Zone (UTC-8), Mountain Time Zone (UTC-7), Central Time Zone (UTC-6), Eastern Time Zone (UTC-5), Atlantic Time Zone (UTC-4), and Newfoundland Time Zone (UTC-3:30). This creates a time difference of 4.5 hours between the westernmost and easternmost points of the country.

The Pacific Time Zone covers most of British Columbia and Yukon during daylight saving time. The small settlement of Tungsten in the Northwest Territories remains on Pacific Standard Time year-round. British Columbia's southeastern portion and Alberta observe Mountain Time, though Alberta stays on Mountain Standard Time during winter months. The Central Time Zone includes Manitoba and Saskatchewan, with Saskatchewan being notable for not observing daylight saving time in most areas, except for the city of Lloydminster and its surrounding region.

Ontario and Quebec predominantly use Eastern Time, which is also observed in Nunavut's eastern regions. The Atlantic Time Zone encompasses the Maritime provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island, along with most of Labrador. The unique Newfoundland Time Zone, offset by 30 minutes from Atlantic Time, applies to the island of Newfoundland and the southeastern part of Labrador. This unusual half-hour difference exists due to the island's geographical position and its historical status as a separate territory when time zones were established in Canada during the 1880s.

Most Canadian provinces and territories observe daylight saving time, shifting clocks forward one hour in March and back in November. In 2025, the transition to daylight saving time occurs on March 9, while the return to standard time takes place on November 2. Several regions remain exceptions to this practice, including most of Saskatchewan, certain areas of British Columbia, Quebec east of 63° west longitude, and Southampton Island in Nunavut, which maintain standard time throughout the year.
