St. Pete Beach is a city located in Pinellas County, Florida, United States, situated on a barrier island along the Gulf of Mexico, west of the city of St. Petersburg.
The city occupies Long Key, one of several barrier islands that line the western coast of the Pinellas Peninsula. It is connected to the mainland by the Corey Causeway and the Even Causeway.
The area was officially incorporated as St. Petersburg Beach in 1957, and subsequently renamed St. Pete Beach in 1994. The population of the city is approximately 9,000 people.
Tourism is the dominant industry in St. Pete Beach. The city's most recognizable landmark is the Don CeSar Hotel, a historic pink Moorish Revival building constructed in 1928, commonly referred to as the Pink Palace. The hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The beach itself is characterized by white quartz sand and shallow, calm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Average water temperatures range from approximately 18 °C (65 °F) in winter to 29 °C (85 °F) in summer.
