Nantucket includes the town of Nantucket, which includes three main townships, Nantucket (Town), Seasconset, and Madaket. Nantucket (Town), the central center of the island, features cobblestone streets and well-preserved historic buildings. Siasconset, located on the eastern end of the island, offers picturesque cottages and scenic views. Madaket, located on the western end of the island, provides access to the most beautiful beaches and sunsets.

Tourism is the backbone of Nantucket's economy, especially during the summer months. Tourists often visit its beaches, historic sites, and nature preserves. Highlights include the Brant Point Lighthouse, one of the oldest lighthouses in the United States, and the Nantucket Whaling Museum, which offers a look at the island's maritime history. The Coskata-Coatue Wildlife Refuge provides opportunities for hiking and wildlife watching.

Major resorts and accommodations include The Wauwinet, a luxury hotel on the northeast shore, and White Elephant, a renowned hotel near the harbor. Both establishments offer upscale amenities and scenic views. The island also hosts several cultural events, such as the Nantucket Film Festival and the Nantucket Wine and Food Festival, which attract visitors from around the world.
