Deerfield Beach Island is a barrier island located in Broward and Palm Beach Counties, Florida, along the state's southeastern coast. This narrow strip of land is separated from the mainland by the Intracoastal Waterway and faces the Atlantic Ocean on its eastern shore. The island forms part of the city of Deerfield Beach and Boca Raton, which was officially incorporated in 1925. The barrier island extends approximately 1 mile in length and varies between 500-1000 feet in width, serving as a natural buffer that helps protect the mainland from storm surges and coastal erosion.

Geologically, Deerfield Beach Island is composed primarily of sand deposits that have accumulated over thousands of years. The island features a subtropical climate characterized by hot, humid summers and mild, dry winters. Average temperatures range from 75°F to 90°F (24°C to 32°C) during summer months and 59°F to 75°F (15°C to 24°C) in winter. The area receives approximately 60 inches of rainfall annually, with the majority occurring during the wet season from May through October.

The island's crown jewel is Deerfield Beach, a pristine stretch of coastline that has earned Blue Wave Beach certification from the Clean Beaches Coalition for its excellent water quality, beach conditions, safety services, and environmental management. The beach extends along the entire eastern shore of the island and is renowned for its clean, golden sand and clear waters. Public access points with parking facilities are available at several locations along the beachfront.

Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier stands as one of the island's most recognizable landmarks. Extending 976 feet into the Atlantic Ocean, this wooden structure was originally built in 1963 and underwent major renovations in 2012. The pier serves as a popular fishing spot and observation deck for visitors. Adjacent to the pier is Deerfield Island Park, a 53.3-acre natural area accessible only by boat that offers hiking trails, picnic facilities, and opportunities to observe native Florida wildlife including mangrove forests and various bird species.

The island contains primarily residential and tourism-oriented development, with numerous condominiums, hotels, and vacation rentals lining the beachfront. Ocean Way, the main thoroughfare running north-south along the island, provides access to various restaurants, shops, and recreational facilities that cater to both residents and tourists. The island is connected to mainland Deerfield Beach via the Hillsboro Boulevard Bridge, which serves as the primary access point for vehicles and pedestrians.
