Parks and Trails in Vancouver and Clark County

Vancouver and Clark County maintain an extensive network of parks, trails, and natural areas totaling over 10,000 acres. The City of Vancouver Parks and Recreation Department manages more than 100 parks and 30 miles of trails within city limits.

Significant park facilities include Waterfront Renaissance Trail, a 7-mile paved pathway along the Columbia River; Vancouver Lake Park, a 234-acre facility with swimming beach and boating access; and Leverich Park, featuring sports fields, playground, and wooded trails. Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver serves as the city's oldest public square and hosts community events. Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center provides 100 acres of wetlands and trails focused on environmental education.

Clark County's park system includes regional facilities such as Lewisville Regional Park, Whipple Creek Regional Park with over 6 miles of trails, and Frenchman's Bar Regional Park on the Columbia River. The East Fork Lewis River Trail offers 8 miles of multi-use pathway. Lacamas Lake and Round Lake areas in Camas provide additional trail networks through forested terrain.

The Discovery Trail connects major parks and neighborhoods throughout Vancouver. Salmon Creek Greenway Trail extends approximately 6 miles through north Vancouver. Regional trail planning includes connections to the Burnt Bridge Creek Greenway system. Many parks offer amenities including sports fields, picnic areas, natural areas, and water access.
