About Port of Vancouver

The Port of Vancouver USA is a deep-water port located on the Columbia River in Vancouver, Washington. Established in 1912, it operates as an independent municipal corporation authorized by the Washington State Legislature. The port handles cargo operations across multiple terminals and provides industrial development services.

The port encompasses approximately 1,500 acres of land with five marine terminals. Annual cargo volume typically ranges from 4 to 6 million tons, including bulk commodities, breakbulk cargo, automobiles, and project cargo. Primary commodities handled include grain, potash, mineral bulks, steel products, and wind energy components.

Marine terminals include Terminal 1 (grain export), Terminal 2 (breakbulk and auto), Centennial Industrial Park, West Vancouver Freight Access, and Terminals 4 and 5. The port is served by two Class I railroads (BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad) and has direct access to Interstate 5 and Interstate 205. Channel depth is maintained at 43 feet to accommodate ocean-going vessels.

The port district generates over 4,000 jobs and contributes significantly to the regional economy. Governance is provided by an elected three-member board of commissioners. The port also manages industrial lands for lease and development, supporting manufacturing, distribution, and logistics operations.
