Solvang is a city located in Santa Barbara County, California, United States. Founded in 1911 by Danish immigrants, the city was established as a Danish colony and educational community. The name "Solvang" translates to "sunny field" in Danish. The city covers an area of approximately 2.5 square miles and is situated in the Santa Ynez Valley, about 35 miles northwest of Santa Barbara.

The city's economy is primarily driven by tourism, with millions of visitors annually attracted to its unique cultural offerings. Major attractions include the Hans Christian Andersen Museum, which celebrates the famous Danish author and fairy tale writer. The Elverhøj Museum of History & Art showcases local Danish-American heritage and regional history. Mission Santa Inés, founded in 1804, is a historic Spanish mission located within the city limits and serves as one of California's 21 original missions. Bethania Lutheran Church, built in 1928, represents one of the oldest Danish Lutheran congregations on the West Coast.

Solvang hosts several annual festivals, most notably Danish Days, a three-day celebration held each September featuring traditional Danish music, dancing, and cuisine. The city also celebrates Julefest during the holiday season, transforming the downtown area into a winter wonderland with authentic Danish Christmas traditions.
The surrounding Santa Ynez Valley is recognized as a prominent wine-producing region, with numerous vineyards and tasting rooms contributing to the local economy. Agriculture, particularly wine grape cultivation, plays a significant role in the area's economic landscape.
