Indianapolis maintains an expanding network of bike routes and trails spanning over 200 miles throughout the city and surrounding areas. The most prominent facility is the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, an 8-mile urban bike and pedestrian path completed in 2013 that connects six downtown cultural districts.

The Monon Trail, running approximately 26 miles from Indianapolis northward through Carmel and Westfield, serves as the city's most heavily utilized recreational trail. It follows a former railroad corridor and connects numerous neighborhoods and parks.

The city's bike infrastructure includes on-street bike lanes, shared-use paths, and signed bike routes. Major routes include the Pleasant Run Trail, Eagle Creek Trail, and Fall Creek Trail. Indianapolis has designated approximately 75 miles of on-street bike lanes as of 2024.

The Indianapolis Department of Public Works oversees bike route development and maintenance. The city participates in bike-sharing programs and has been working to expand protected bike lane networks in downtown and residential areas. Routes connect to regional trail systems including the Central Canal Towpath.
