About Denver Airport

Denver International Airport (DEN) is a major international airport located in Denver, Colorado, United States. Opened on February 28, 1995, the airport replaced the former Stapleton International Airport as Denver's primary commercial aviation facility. DEN is situated approximately 25 miles northeast of downtown Denver and covers an area of 33,531 acres, making it the largest airport in the United States by total land area and the second-largest airport in the world by land area.

The airport serves as a major hub for United Airlines and Frontier Airlines. DEN consistently ranks among the busiest airports in the United States, handling over 69 million passengers annually as of recent years. The facility features six runways, with the longest measuring 16,000 feet, capable of accommodating the largest commercial aircraft currently in operation.

Denver International Airport's terminal complex consists of the Jeppesen Terminal, named after aviation pioneer Elrey Borge Jeppesen, and three concourses designated A, B, and C. The terminal building spans 1.5 million square feet and features a distinctive tent-like roof structure designed to resemble the snow-capped Rocky Mountains. An automated guideway transit system connects the terminal to the concourses.

The airport provides nonstop service to more than 215 destinations worldwide, including over 190 domestic and 25 international destinations. Major airlines operating at DEN include United, Southwest, Delta, American, and Frontier. The facility also serves as an important cargo hub, handling significant freight operations for the region and serving as a gateway between the United States and international markets.
