About Terminal E
Terminal E is one of five passenger terminals at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), located in Texas between Dallas and Fort Worth. The terminal serves as a major hub for American Airlines and handles both domestic and international flights.
Opened in 1985, Terminal E was the fourth terminal to be constructed at DFW Airport. The facility spans approximately 1.2 million square feet and features a distinctive architectural design consistent with the airport's overall modernist aesthetic. The terminal contains five levels, with arrivals processing on the lower level and departures on the upper level.
Terminal E houses 39 gates numbered E1 through E38, with gate E39 serving as a swing gate. The terminal primarily accommodates American Airlines operations, including the carrier's flagship international routes to Europe, Asia, and South America. Several other airlines also operate from Terminal E, including British Airways, Lufthansa, and Qatar Airways. The terminal features two satellite concourses connected to the main building via underground tunnels with moving walkways.
Passenger amenities include numerous dining options, retail stores, and airline lounges. The Admirals Club and Flagship Lounge provide premium services for eligible passengers. Terminal E also contains customs and immigration facilities for international arrivals, including automated passport control kiosks and Global Entry processing areas.
The terminal connects to the airport's Skylink automated people mover system, which provides transportation between all terminals. Ground transportation options include rental cars, taxis, ride-sharing services, and the Trinity Metro TEXRail commuter train that connects DFW Airport to downtown Fort Worth.
