About Terminal A
Terminal A is one of five terminals at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in Texas. Opened in 1974 as part of the airport's initial construction phase, Terminal A serves as a major hub for domestic and international flights. The terminal underwent significant renovation and expansion between 2016 and 2019, modernizing its facilities and increasing capacity to accommodate growing passenger traffic.
The terminal features 38 gates arranged across multiple concourses, designated as gates A1 through A39. American Airlines operates the majority of flights from Terminal A, utilizing it as one of their primary hubs at DFW. The terminal also hosts several other carriers including Alaska Airlines, JetBlue Airways, and various international airlines. Terminal A handles both domestic routes throughout the United States and international destinations across multiple continents.
Passenger amenities include numerous dining options, retail stores, and business services. The terminal houses restaurants ranging from fast-casual chains to sit-down establishments, along with specialty food vendors and coffee shops. Shopping opportunities include bookstores, electronics retailers, and souvenir shops.
Transportation connections link Terminal A to other airport terminals via the Skylink automated people mover system, which provides free transportation every two minutes during peak hours. Ground transportation options include rental car facilities, taxi services, ride-sharing pickup zones, and public transit connections to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) system.
The terminal incorporates modern architectural elements and sustainable design features implemented during its recent renovation. Security screening areas utilize advanced technology, and the terminal provides complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the facility for passenger convenience.
