About Cleveland State University

Cleveland State University (CSU) is a public research university located in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. It was established in 1964 and became part of the University System of Ohio.

The university traces part of its origins to Fenn College, a private institution founded in 1923, which was absorbed to help form the new state university. In 1969, the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law joined Cleveland State University, adding a long-established legal education program to the institution.

CSU is organized into several colleges and schools, including the College of Arts and Sciences, the Monte Ahuja College of Business, the Washkewicz College of Engineering, the College of Education and Human Services, the College of Health, and the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree programs.

The campus is situated in downtown Cleveland, occupying a large area on the eastern side of the city center. Its urban location places it near cultural, medical, and business institutions of the metropolitan area.

Athletically, the university competes as the Cleveland State Vikings in NCAA Division I, primarily as a member of the Horizon League.
