Taoyuan International Airport (IATA: TPE, ICAO: RCTP), also known as Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, is the largest and busiest international airport in Taiwan. Located approximately 40 kilometers west of Taipei in Taoyuan City, it serves as the primary international gateway to the Republic of China (Taiwan).

The airport was originally opened in 1979 as Chiang Kai-shek International Airport and was renamed to its current name in 2006. It features two terminals and handles over 40 million passengers annually, making it one of the busiest airports in Asia. The airport serves as a major hub for China Airlines and EVA Air, Taiwan's two largest carriers.

Terminal 1, renovated in 2013, has a total floor area of 169,500 square meters and can handle 15 million passengers per year. Terminal 2, opened in 2000, is larger with 318,000 square meters of floor space and can process up to 17 million passengers annually. A third terminal is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in the near future.

The facility operates 24 hours a day and features two parallel runways, both 3,800 meters in length. It is equipped with advanced navigation systems and can handle all types of commercial aircraft, including the Airbus A380. The airport complex includes extensive cargo facilities, making it one of Asia's major air freight hubs.

Ground transportation options include the Taoyuan Airport MRT, which connects the airport to Taipei Main Station, regular bus services, and taxi services. The airport also features various amenities including duty-free shops, restaurants, lounges, and hotels within its vicinity.
