Other significant peaks include Mount Makarakomburu at 2,310 meters and Mount Gallego at 2,000 meters.

The islands feature numerous rivers, coral reefs, and lagoons. The coastline stretches approximately 5,313 kilometers and includes many natural harbors. The archipelago lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, making it susceptible to volcanic activity and earthquakes. Several dormant and extinct volcanoes are present, including Mount Veve on Kolombangara island.
