This map shows landforms in Senegal.

Senegal is located in West Africa, covering an area of 196,722 square kilometers. The country shares borders with Mauritania to the north, Mali to the east, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau to the south, and is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the west.

The terrain of Senegal is predominantly flat to rolling plains, gradually rising towards the southeast. The highest point is an unnamed feature near Nepen Diakha at 581 meters (1,906 feet) above sea level. The lowest elevation is at sea level along the Atlantic coast.

The country's landscape is divided into three main geographical regions: the Cape Verde coastal region featuring sandy soil and coastal dunes, the central region characterized by the ancient basins of the Senegal and Gambia Rivers, and the southeastern region marked by the foothills of Fouta Djallon highlands. The Senegal River forms the natural border with Mauritania in the north, while the Gambia River cuts through the southern portion of the country.

Major rivers include the Senegal River, Gambia River, and Casamance River. The country's climate varies from semi-arid in the north to tropical in the south, significantly influencing its physical geography and vegetation patterns.
