Saudi Arabia Physical Map
Description:
This map shows cities, towns, roads, mountains and landforms in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia is a country located in Western Asia, occupying most of the Arabian Peninsula. The total area of the country is approximately 2,150,000 square kilometers (830,000 square miles), making it the 12th largest country in the world.
The terrain of Saudi Arabia is dominated by the Arabian Desert, which covers about 95% of the country. The desert landscape includes several distinct regions: the Rub' al Khali (Empty Quarter) in the southeast, An-Nafud desert in the north, and Ad-Dahna desert in the central-eastern region. The Empty Quarter, covering 650,000 square kilometers, is the largest continuous sand desert in the world.
The western region features the Sarawat Mountains (also known as the Hejaz Mountains), which run parallel to the Red Sea coast. The highest point in Saudi Arabia is Jabal Sawda, reaching 3,133 meters (10,279 feet) above sea level. The eastern region slopes gradually from the central plateau toward the Persian Gulf, characterized by salt flats and gravel plains.
The country has no permanent rivers, but there are numerous wadis (dry riverbeds) that fill with water during seasonal rains. The most prominent wadis include Wadi Al-Rummah and Wadi Ad-Dawasir.
