About Oslo Airport (OSL)

Oslo Airport (OSL), officially Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, is the main international airport serving Oslo, Norway. Located 35 kilometers northeast of Oslo city center in Gardermoen, Ullensaker, it is the largest and busiest airport in Norway, handling over 28.5 million passengers in 2019.

The airport began its commercial operations in 1998, replacing the former main airport at Fornebu. The facility features two parallel runways and 71 aircraft parking positions, with 44 gates equipped with passenger bridges. The terminal building, designed by Nordic Office of Architecture, spans approximately 265,000 square meters.

Oslo Airport serves as a hub for Norwegian Air Shuttle, Scandinavian Airlines, and Widerøe. It offers direct connections to numerous European destinations and several intercontinental routes, including services to North America, Asia, and the Middle East. The airport is known for its efficient operations and environmental initiatives, being one of the first airports worldwide to offer jet biofuel to all airlines.

Transportation to and from the airport is facilitated by various options. The Airport Express Train (Flytoget) provides high-speed rail service to Oslo Central Station with a journey time of about 19 minutes. Regular NSB trains, express buses, and local buses also serve the airport. The facility maintains approximately 19,000 parking spaces for private vehicles.

In terms of infrastructure, Oslo Airport features modern amenities including duty-free shops, restaurants, lounges, and banking services. The airport has undergone several expansions, with the most recent major terminal expansion completed in 2017, increasing its annual capacity to 32 million passengers. The facility is operated by state-owned Avinor and employs approximately 15,000 people through various companies and organizations.
