About Tivat
Tivat is a coastal town located in southwestern Montenegro on the Bay of Kotor. With a population of approximately 14,000 (2011 census), it is one of the youngest and smallest municipalities in Montenegro. The town serves as the center of the Tivat Municipality and has experienced significant development since Montenegro gained independence in 2006.

The town's history dates back to the 3rd century BC when Illyrian settlements were established in the area. Throughout history, Tivat was under the rule of various powers, including the Roman Empire, Byzantine Empire, Venice, and Austria-Hungary. The name "Tivat" is believed to derive from the name of the Christian Saint Theodorus, who was worshipped in this area during the Middle Ages.

Modern Tivat is primarily known for its maritime infrastructure and tourism. The town's most significant development is Porto Montenegro, a luxury yacht marina and residential complex built on the site of the former Yugoslav Navy Arsenal. This state-of-the-art marina can accommodate super-yachts up to 250 meters in length and has transformed Tivat into a high-end tourist destination. The complex includes luxury apartments, high-end retail shops, restaurants, and the Naval Heritage Collection museum, which showcases Montenegro's maritime history.
Other notable attractions include Tivat Airport, Montenegro's largest international airport, which handles over 1 million passengers annually. The town features several beautiful parks, including the City Park and Pine Park (Veliki Gradski Park), which contains rare plant species and trees over 100 years old. Sveti Marko Island, visible from the town's waterfront, adds to the picturesque landscape of the Bay of Kotor.
The climate in Tivat is Mediterranean, characterized by mild winters and warm summers. The town receives approximately 240 sunny days per year, making it a popular tourist destination. The economy primarily relies on tourism, maritime services, and aviation, with Porto Montenegro serving as a major employer and economic driver. Tivat has also become an attractive location for real estate investment, particularly in the luxury segment, contributing to its rapid development and modernization in recent years.
