About Gozo
The island of Gozo, part of the Maltese archipelago, is located northwest of the main island of Malta, accessible by ferry via the Gozo Channel. Gozo covers an area of about 26 square miles (67 square kilometers) and is known for its rural scenery, historical sites, and slower pace of life compared to the more urbanized Malta.
Victoria, Gozo's capital, serves as the island's administrative and commercial center. The Citadel, a historic fortress town within Victoria, offers panoramic views and is home to several museums.
Among Gozo's attractions are the temples of Gantija, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest freestanding structures in the world, dating back to around 3600 BC.
The island's natural attractions, such as the Inland Sea and the Wied-il-Mielach Window, provide opportunities for diving and hiking. Agriculture and tourism drive Gozo's economy, while the island's picturesque scenery and historical sites attract tourists seeking tranquility.
