About Antiparos

Antiparos is a small island in the Cyclades, located southwest of Paros, from which it is separated by a narrow strait less than one mile wide. The island covers 17 square miles and has a permanent population of approximately 1,200 residents. The main settlement, also called Antiparos or Kastro, is built around a 15th-century Venetian castle and serves as the island's port.

The island's primary attraction is the Cave of Antiparos, located in the center of the island at an elevation of 177 meters. This impressive stalagmite cave extends approximately 90 meters deep and has been known since antiquity, with inscriptions dating back to the 4th century BCE. The cave features remarkable stalactite and stalagmite formations.

Antiparos has experienced significant tourism development in recent years, transitioning from a quiet alternative to Paros into a popular destination in its own right. The island is accessible by frequent ferry service from Paroikia (Paros) or by a small car ferry from Pounta. Several beaches, including Psaraliki near the main town and Soros on the southwest coast, attract summer visitors.
