Wiesbaden is the capital of Hesse, Germany, with approximately 289,000 inhabitants, located on the Rhine River opposite Mainz. Known as a spa town since Roman times, the city developed into a fashionable resort during the 19th century, attracting European nobility and wealthy visitors to its hot springs. The Sektkellerei Henkell, a major sparkling wine producer, has facilities here.
