Serbia is located in Southeastern Europe, specifically in the Balkan region, positioned at the crossroads between Central and Southern Europe. The country's geographical coordinates are 44°N 21°E. Serbia is completely landlocked, bordered by eight countries: Hungary to the north, Romania and Bulgaria to the east, North Macedonia and Kosovo to the south, and Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia to the west.
The country's territory covers 88,361 square kilometers, making it the third-largest country of the former Yugoslavia. Serbia lies primarily between the Pannonian Plain in the north, the Balkan region in the south, with the Danube River forming a significant natural boundary in the north.
