Stockholm Metro Map
Description:
This map shows Stockholm metro lines and stations.
The Stockholm Metro, locally known as Tunnelbana or T-bana, is a rapid transit system serving Stockholm, Sweden. Opened in 1950, it has grown to become one of the most extensive metro systems in Northern Europe, covering aproximately 68.7 miles (110.5 kilometers) of track. The network consists of three main lines - Green, Red, and Blue - which branch into seven routes, designated as T10, T11, T13, T14, T17, T18, and T19.
The system is notable for its unique artistic design, with over 90 of its 100 stations featuring installations, sculptures, mosaics, paintings, and engravings by more than 150 artists. This extensive art collection has led to Stockholm's metro being called "the world's longest art gallery". The artistic decorations began in the 1950s and continue to be maintained and expanded today.
Stockholm Metro operates from approximately 4:30 AM until 2:30 AM on weekdays and around the clock on weekends. The system serves about 900,000 passengers daily and approximately 295 million riders annually. Trains run at frequencies of 3-10 minutes during peak hours.
A distinctive feature of the Stockholm Metro is its deep-level stations carved into solid rock, particularly on the Blue Line. These cave-like stations, known as "rock shelters", showcase exposed bedrock and are painted in vibrant colors. The system uses left-hand traffic, reflecting Sweden's driving customs before 1967. The metro is operated by MTR Nordic under contract from Stockholm Transport (SL), which manages public transportation in Stockholm County.
