Description:
This map shows cities, towns, main roads, secondary roads, railroads, mountains, and landforms in South Korea.

South Korea occupies the southern portion of the Korean Peninsula, covering an area of approximately 100,032 square kilometers. The country's terrain is predominantly mountainous, with coastal plains in the west and south.

The main mountain range, the Taebaek Mountains, runs along the eastern coast and extends from north to south. This range includes several significant peaks, including Mount Seorak (1,708 meters) and Mount Jiri (1,915 meters). The highest point in South Korea is Mount Halla, a dormant volcano reaching 1,950 meters above sea level, located on Jeju Island.

The western and southern regions feature lower elevations and fertile plains, which are extensively used for agriculture. The country is surrounded by water on three sides: the Yellow Sea to the west, the Korea Strait to the south, and the East Sea (Sea of Japan) to the east. South Korea's coastline extends approximately 2,413 kilometers and includes numerous small islands, with the largest being Jeju Island.

Major rivers include the Han River, which flows through Seoul, and the Nakdong River in the southeast. These waterways have historically been crucial for agriculture and transportation.
